The catalan May Peus España is the new president of the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation (RFEDI) held on Saturday 20 at the National Sports Council of Madrid after being elected by the General Assembly.
In a close election for the presidency of the RFEDI, the current president has already gotten 21 votes in the second round, only one ahead of the other candidates who also happened to the second round, Juan Ramón Blanco, who had 20 votes.
In first round of voting in the General Assembly, formed by 41 members, Juan Ramón Blanco had 16 votes, 13 May Peus and Eduardo Roldán 12 (who held the position from 2002 to 2014.), opting for a fourth term, has run out of options for a second vote.
During his speech, Peus Espana expressed his thanks to the outgoing President Roldan for his dedication and significant contributions during his twelve-year tenure.
Following the election of the President, the Assembly proceeded to the election of the Delegate Committee composed of representatives of presidents of armed forces, clubs, athletes, coaches, judges and technical delegates.
Peus, 42, holds a degree in Business Administration. He was a downhill skier and member of the Spanish National Team in the 1990s before moving on to serve as the National Team Coach. He worked for 19 years at the club CAEI Aran Valley where he was a coach and manager.
